“It was supposed to be a controlled burn,” says Bonesteel Fire Chief Chad Bentz. But the flames, run by private land owners, quickly got out of control on Saturday afternoon, March 7, north of Bonesteel on Highway 1806 and the Bonesteel Fire Department was called out. All in all, Bentz would estimate that 200+ acres burned that day.
