Bailey and Hausmann Represent Bonesteel in AAU Wrestling

Bonesteel had two boys compete in AAU Wrestling this year with the Burke Bulldogs, Brysen Bailey and Masen Hausmann.

This is Brysen’s first year in the sport, he wrestled in the Tot 49 weight class. Masen entered his third year wrestling, he was in the Midget 63 weight class.

Brysen took first place at Wagner, Winner, and Kimball tournaments and third at the Burke tournament. Masen placed first in the Wagner tournament, second at Burke and Kimball, and third at Mt. Vernon and Winner tournaments. Masen also competed with the team in the Kimball Duals.

The District tournament was held in Freeman, where wrestlers have to place in the top 8 to move on to Regions. Brysen took second, and Masen third, sending them both to the Corn Palace in Mitchell for the Regional tournament. At Regions the top three in each weight class move on to state. Masen got in a tough bracket and gave it his all but came up short. Brysen was able to pull off a second place finish.

State was held in Brookings March 16 and 17 where Brysen had sixteen kids in his bracket. He started off with a win and then a loss, win, win, and win. He then went back Sunday to wrestle for a third or fourth place finish. He pinned his opponent in the first 24 seconds on Sunday to earn a third place State finish.
